History of De Djawatan Forest
De Djawatan Forest has a history closely tied to the Dutch colonial government. Previously, this area was known as Tapel Pelas (TP) and was used as a place to store wood.
Wood that had been cut down in the surrounding area was then stored under the giant rain trees here, to protect the wood from direct sunlight or rain.
The name “De Djawatan” itself was chosen because it is related to Perhutani, and deliberately uses the old spelling to give an ancient impression that reminds us of the glory of Perum Perhutani.
